Family First ~ A personal post {Arlington Snohomish Child Photographer}

Last week, Danny and I loaded up the kids in the car and grabbed our camera gear and headed out for an impromptu photo session with the kids. We had originally planned to go up north to the Tulips Fields in Mount Vernon but decided against that due to the crowds and the drive time. So, instead we just started driving and stumbled upon a fantastic location for our session.

I am always in search of new locations to do sessions to keep things fresh. And, lucky for our kids, they usually get to be our test subjects. This night was kind of out of the ordinary for these kinds of little adventures. Not only did the kids have a blast exploring and hamming it up for the cameras, we got some delicious light and this location was just perfect!

I have the privilege of getting to do what I LOVE for my career. But, being a photographer means I am usually behind the camera and not in front of it. Danny has been by my side as my second shooter for most all of my weddings for the last 2 years. It’s so nice to have him be my sidekick at weddings. Over the years, we have developed a nice groove and system to how we shoot weddings. He provides the strengths to my weaknesses and always brings his humor along to liven up the long days!

During this little venture with our family, Danny captured some great shots of me with the kids.  Yes, my career and passion is as a photographer. But, first and foremost, I am a Mom. Sometimes juggling the demands of running my own business, being a wife and parenting two very busy toddlers and all the other events that play into everyday life can make things get a little stressful and overwhelming. It’s important to take a step back during those moments and look at the bigger picture of your life.

And, honestly, they melt my heart and I will forever cherish them.

I wasn’t gonna let Danny get away with not being in at least a few of these photos.
He is not only an amazingly supportive and loving husband but he is also a fantastic father. And these babies love him to the moon and back. He is their hero.

Are you kidding me with their cuteness?

LOVE.LOVE.LOVE

So, to all of you Moms and Dads out there… please realize the importance of getting in front of the camera with your kids and with each other. If not for yourself, do it for those little humans you created. I don’t need to sit here and preach to you about how fast time flies… we live it everyday and know. But, these days, with social media being such a prevalent part of everyday life..I hope you can take a look at the bigger picture and realize that by having your family documented it’s not only providing you those memories of this time in your life.. but it’s also giving your kids a huge gift to be able to look back on those same memories as they get older.

I cannot wait to print these photos and get them up on the walls of our home. It will help me to look at them when these adorable kiddos are on my last nerve and I am about to lose my mind! 😉 Which, please don’t let the “Facebook Facade” fool you.. happens more frequently than I would care to admit.  But, that is the reality of life. Nobody is perfect. And those that strive to be that way will end up living a life of disappointment.

“Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect.

It means you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections”
