When Bad Things Happen to Good People {A Personal Post}

It saddens me to be writing this blog post right now. But, given that I have a social media platform, I figure it’s best that I use it to my fullest capacity in times of need. And right now, I am feeling helpless in this situation, so I want to try to do everything that might help my family.

 This family is very near and dear to my heart.  This is Danny’s sister, Lisa, & her husband Pete and their 3 amazing kids!

Danny and Pete work together doing the same job for the same company.

Yesterday, while Pete was at work he fell from a lift about 20 feet high in the air. Thankfully, he landed on his feet because had he landed any other way, well, let’s just not even go there. Unfortunately, because of the impact of the fall and the way he landed his lower extremities suffered severely. He broke both feet, shattered his kneecap, and also has a broken pelvis because the hip ball joint pushed through as he hit the cement floor.  He also has a broken right arm. He is currently in the ICU at Harborview awaiting surgery (what will be one of many).

Pete is a guy unlike any I’ve ever met. Seriously, anyone who knows him would agree he is one of the nicest people EVER.

He has a work ethic unlike that of anyone I know. He’s a family man 110% of the way. His sense of humor and contagious laugh just make you want to be around him all the time. The love he has for his wife and children is undeniable.  While he was in the ER right after the accident occurred, he was more concerned about how this would affect those around him than what was actually happening to him.  He is just downright a solid soul and genuine through and through.

His road to recovery is a long one. He is facing a long hospital stay, followed by numerous surgeries to help him be able to walk again, and of course lots of rehabilitation and physical therapy once he does come home.  All this means the medical bills are going to be piling up fast. And, he is the SOLE provider for his beautiful family of five. With his inability to work, that creates a huge financial stress that these guys shouldn’t have to be worrying about when the emotional stress they are facing is more than anyone should have to.

I’ve set up a GoFundMe Campaign in an effort to raise some money for these guys and hopefully relieve a little bit of stress.  This situation hits so close to home, not only because they are my family – but also because this could have so easily happened to my husband. They do the same job every day.

Please consider making a donation to this family to help them. Any amount, no matter how big or little, will make a difference.

Here is the link to the GoFundMe Campaign:

King.Snohomish.County.Child.Family.Photographer.05This type of accident makes you really think about your priorities. Life is precious and in an instant it can change forever. Hug your loved ones tightly and appreciate what you have.

For those that do, I ask for you to keep Pete and his family in your prayers as they face these struggles ahead.

Keeping the Faith,
